Raffaele Anatriello, a career dedicated to ‘mechanics’: from aeromodelling to aeronautical engineering

Every day, Raffaele, a mechanical engineer (management course), faces the challenge of cutting down on production costs, energy consumption, and materials, while improving the company’s sustainability.

With a degree in Mechanical Engineering with Management and a passion for aeromodelling behind him, Raffaele Anatriello found a natural outlet for his inclinations and an opportunity to enhance his skills, as demonstrated by over 17 years of service to the company.

Today, Raffaele is head of ‘Efficiency Projects’ at the Leonardo site in Nola (NA), a manufacturing centre of excellence for the manufacture of aerostructures for various programmes, including international partnerships such as Airbus and Boeing. As ‘Pillar Leader Early Equipment Management’ for the Leonardo Production System (LPS), Raffaele and his team have the task of implementing projects that reduce controllable costs and the acquisition and co-ordination of new Computerised Numerical Control (CNC) production equipment. Raffaele has made a crucial contribution to the success of a variety of efficiency projects, including ‘Contact Centre Logistics (CCL) - Tool Anomalies Reporting’, an internal communication system that allows users to track information on the equipment used in the production process, with the objective of constantly improving efficiency.

Raffaele’s current role encompasses many of his academic skills but also draws on the wealth and strength of Leonardo’s knowledge and technological expertise. “Anyone who wants to learn or further explore anything related not only to aeronautics but also to technology as a whole, can do so at Leonardo, right down to the smallest details of every subject,” explains Raffaele. “Leonardo is like a vast pool where, with the right motivation, you can draw from a world of knowledge that you will not find easily in any book”. There are many opportunities to grow on both a cultural and personal level.”

For Raffaele, working at Leonardo also means “being able to rely on the know-how acquired by the group over the years, an element that can be integrated and capitalised on in every technological field to build something useful for the company.”
