  • Nicolò Magini is an expert in high performance computing and high throughput computing, with 15 years of experience in the development and operations of services for data analysis and data management on large-scale computing infrastructures.

Nicolò received his degree and PhD in Physics at the University of Florence, working on the reconstruction and analysis of data from the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN.

In 2007, he joined CERN to develop services for the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) connecting 170 computing centres globally to provide the storage, networking and processing resources used by thousands of physicists to analyse tens of Petabytes of data produced by LHC experiments every year.

At CERN, he was involved in projects in all aspects of scientific computing, including data reconstruction and analysis, data management, workload management and monitoring, and analytics. From 2014 to 2016 he was the coordinator of the development projects of all computing services for the CMS experiment.

Starting in 2017, Nicolò worked for the ATLAS experiment on the development of new services for data processing on diverse infrastructures, including clouds and HPC centres.

In 2021, Nicolò joined the Leonardo HPC/Cloud Labs, where he concentrated his research activity on the development and exploitation of the davinci-1 HPC infrastructure. He works in the team of administrators of davinci-1, and he is responsible for the private cloud deployment on davinci-1 resources.
