  • Vincenzo Madonna ha ricevuto la Laurea Magistrale in ingegneria elettrica presso l’Università di Bologna nel 2016 e il Dottorato di Ricerca in progettazione di macchine elettriche presso l’Università di Nottingham nel 2020. Nel 2016 si è unito all’Institute for Aerospace Technology, University of Nottingham, come Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Fellow dove ha lavorato sul topic reliability-oriented design of electrical machines for transportation. Nel 2018, è stato un Research Associate e Docente presso il the Key Laboratory of More Electric Aircraft of Zhejiang Province, Ningbo, Cina. Dr. Madonna ha lavorato come ricercatore Post-Doc con il Propulsion Futures Beacon of Excellence presso la University of Nottingham fino a dicembre 2020. Da gennaio 2021 si è unito a Leonardo, Torino, dove è attualmente un Research Fellow dei Leonardo Labs presso la Research Unit Electrification del Future Aircraft Technologies Lab. Dr. Madonna è autore o co-autore di circa 45 articoli scientifici indicizzati su Scopus. I suoi topic di ricerca, attualmente, ricoprono l’elettrificazione dei trasporti, la progettazione di macchine elettriche e lo studio dell’affidabilità di materiali dielettrici.

    Dr. Madonna ha ricevuto quattro premi internazionali. In particolare:

     – The 2018 ICEM Brian Chalmers Best Paper Award 2018, for the paper: On the effects of advanced end winding cooling on the design and performance of electrical machines

     – The ICEMS 2020 Excellent Paper Award for the paper: Development and testing of soft magnetic rotor for switched reluctance motor built through additive manufacturing technology

     – The 2020 IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, Electrical Machines Technical Committee Best Paper Award for the paper: Weibull distribution and geometrical size factor for evaluating the thermal life of electrical machines’ insulation

     – The IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Student Best Paper Award for the paper: Thermal overload and insulation ageing of short duty cycle, aerospace motors

    Dr. Madonna è un Membro Fondatore dell’ “Electrical Machines Reliability Laboratory” presso l’Institute for Aerospace Technology, University of Nottingham. È un reviewer per 6 differenti IEEE Transactions. Inoltre, è il co-inventore del metodo di raffreddamento avanzato per machine elettriche presentato in: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/8464056. Dr. Madonna è stato tra i primi ricercatori al mondo a testare (in maniera dinamica) una macchina a riluttanza variabile con rotore stampato completamente in 3D (https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/9256277).
