Selex ES, a Finmeccanica Company, has committed to become an important partner of the major defence companies in Turkey and support them growing their capabilities and technology in the defense and security domain. Selex ES has been active and present in Turkey for over 30 years, offering a wide range of advanced defence and security electronic solutions. Selex ES is the newly created electronics and information technology company, integrating the capabilities of Selex Galileo, Selex Elsag and Selex Sistemi Integrati, who all operated successfully in Turkey.
Selex ES is determined to grow its presence in Turkey both through in-country industrial partnerships and co-operations and through its Selex ES Elektronik Turkey subsidiary. The company is therefore delighted to participating in this year’s IDEF’13 event.
Thanks to its combination of technologies, competence and experience, Selex ES Elektronik Turkey, via its premises located in Gölbaşı/Ankara, is in a position to offer to its Turkish customers the best in terms of innovation, solutions and quality. Selex ES through their European and American successful businesses is able to grant access to international high-tech and military markets to Turkish companies that aim to consolidate an international dimension.
Speaking at Turkey’s Defence & Security show IDEF’13, Fabrizio Giulianini, CEO of Selex ES commented: “In Turkey, we already have several ongoing programmes working with all of the main Armed Forces Foundations Companies, both on domestic and international projects. We are now selecting a number of strategic opportunities to work on with our Turkish partners, addressing the areas of military, emergency and public communications, UAS and advanced sensors (radar, EO, EW) in all three domains: airborne, land and naval. Moreover, we believe our presence in country will benefit from the growth of our global business, as Selex ES represents one of the most important players in the electronic for defence and security sector worldwide. We are also determined to share technologies and grow joint co-operations with our Turkish partners”.
In particular, Selex ES is looking to establish strong partnerships in order to provide solutions for the National Emergency and Public network programme, as well as enhancing collaborations in the field of IR detectors, EO sensors and solutions (VigilX), missile seekers and land, airborne and naval radar. The company is also pursuing opportunities to update existing requirements of the Turkish armed forces. Finally, leveraging on the companies’ long and consolidated experience in the field of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), Selex ES is an ideal partner in unmanned capabilities.

DRAKO
DRAKO vertical take-off and landing UAS is an electrical quad-rotor system capable of autonomous and semi-autonomous flight, hovering and obstacle avoidance to provide reconnaissance and surveillance information. DRAKO delivers flexibility, reliability, safety and quick delivery and the on board pan-tilt cameras for day and night operations make DRAKO well suited for urban operations. DRAKO uses the same Portable Ground Control Station as Selex ES’s other micro and mini UAS.
