The LBA Systems joint venture (JV) aims to design, develop, manufacture and support unmanned aircraft systems, creating a new reference player in unmanned technologies, which will play an increasingly central role in the future of Defence.
The partnership, based in Italy, involves Leonardo (50%) and Baykar Technologies (50%). The creation of the new company comes after the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two companies in March 2025.

Providing cutting-edge electronic systems and payloads; implementing Manned-Unmanned Teaming and swarming capabilities; getting involved in qualification and certification activities.
Baykar Technologies
Design and development of advanced unmanned platforms.
Leonardo and Baykar, both engaged in the development and production of UAVs, electronic systems, payloads, C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence), Artificial Intelligence, integrated mission systems, space equipment, and services, will ensure interoperability within multi-domain ecosystems.
Over the next ten years, the European market covering unmanned fighters, armed surveillance drones, and deep strike drones is projected to reach a value of USD 100 billion. Through the activities of this Joint Venture, Leonardo and Baykar aim at jointly pursue opportunities in both the European and international market.
