A new competition to develop an automated driving system will be launched on June 8 in Milan to showcase innovation and creativity. 
 

Innovathon is a hackathon for university students and recent graduates to create a functioning prototype of an automated driving system. The Leonardo and PoliHub initiative is a two day marathon centred on innovation and creativity, where students and recent graduates will assess their problem solving skills through software and electronics challenges. Leonardo, one of the world’s top 10 companies in the Aerospace, Defence and Security sector, and PoliHub, a start-up incubator, aim to promote friendly competition in STEM (Science, Technologies, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines linked to technology. 

Innovathon will take place on 8-9 June in the PoliHub Innovation District & Startup Accelerator at Politecnico Milano University. 

Through the hackathon, participants will use their technical knowledge to test their originality, adaptability, team-working, and problem solving skills. The students will discuss their ideas with professionals and experts and will work with a mentor to finalize their projects using the tools and methods of the PoliHub network. 

The candidates will be admitted to the competition individually or in teams of two to five people. Applications will be accepted until 23:59 of 2 June.

The panel of judges are experts in the technology sector. The winner will receive a cash prize. All participants will have the opportunity to network with Leonardo, while the company will consider the possibility of special integration programs to further serve students and develop talent. 

The competition is one example of Leonardo’s strong commitment to promoting scientific citizenship and young talent through collaborations with the academic world.
