Magyar Posta choses Leonardo to deliver Hungary’s main parcel sorting hub. It is the latest international milestone in the logistics sector and, at the same time, the confirmation of the Hungarian operator's confidence in Leonardo's abilities, with whom there has been a consolidated collaboration over the last two decades.

The contract, worth over 26 million euros, provides Magyar Posta with market leading technologies to support the increasing parcels volumes in their network. The solution, to be supplied by autumn 2023, will allow the operator to guarantee rapid deliveries during the year peak.
The system will be capable of processing up to 100 million a year. Magyar Posta also invests in Leonardo to provide professional support until 2031.

Leveraging technological and digital excellence, Leonardo delivers an innovative and cost-effective full range of systems and solutions for the automation of courier logistics hubs and mail sorting centers worldwide. Thanks to this modern work environment collaboration, Magyar Posta will improve its workforce efficiency, aimed at maintaining its market leader position in Hungary.

The system, which is designed to process domestic and international parcels, will see Leonardo supply and integrate a turnkey solution.  The core of this solution is the proprietary Leonardo Multisort 600 a sorting machines based on cross-belt handling technology, a benchmark of performance and reliability on the market, designed to meet any specific customer requirement and ensure precise and gentle handling of all packages. The overall solution consists of 32 telescopic boom conveyors, over 800 meters of conveyor leading through multiple induction zones onto an overlapping cross belt with 85 outlets distributed over a total length of 600 meters.

The connection with the Magyar Posta IT infrastructure will ensure the receipt of the sorting information and the addressing of the package at the appropriate exit, according to the plan established by the operator. Overall the new solution will facilitate the delivery of parcels to a fleet of almost 1000 vehicles in just a few minutes allowing the operator to reduce the network from 263 to 23 depos and 1 hub.

Leonardo adds a new success to its expanding portfolio and confirms itself as a preferred partner for postal operators who aim at expanding the distribution capacity of their logistics network.

Since the early '70s, Leonardo has been partnering with logistics companies supplying advanced postal automation and logistics solutions based on proprietary technologies.

Over the last years, the company has undertaken a renewal program to satisfy growing customer needs in terms of availability, speed and security. Thanks to proprietary sorting technologies as well as integrating third party ones, Leonardo is able to offer a comprehensive approach, including consultancy and customer support services.
