Finmeccanica: Ansaldo Energia awarded a EUR 300 million contract in Algeria

Ansaldo Energia, a company jointly controlled by Finmeccanica and First Reserve Corporation, has been awarded a contract worth a total of about EUR 300 million by SOCIETE ALGERIENNE DE PRODUCTION DE L’ELECTRICITE (SPE Spa), a Sonelgaz group company.

Ansaldo Energia will supply the Hassi Messaoud (Wilya d’Ouargla) open cycle power plant, with a total rated output of more than 660 MW. The plant comprises three generating sets with three Ansaldo Energia gas turbines (model AE 94.3A) and alternators, all manufactured at Ansaldo Energia’s Genoa production facilities.

The contract has been awarded following a national and international tender in competition with the leading international players. This project further strengthens Ansaldo Energia’s cooperation with Sonelgaz as one of the main development partners in Algeria’s strategic electric power production plan.
