FATA EPC, a division of FATA Spa (a Finmeccanica Company) has won an EPC contract for the construction and commissioning of a 70 Ton per day Chlor-Alkali Plant the Mesaieed Industrial City at Mesaieed, Qatar. The contract has been awarded by Gulf Chlorine W.L.L., a joint venture between Oman Chlorine SAOG, and Al Mirqab Capital, a Qatar local Company. The Project value is USD 70 million.
FATA will be ultimately responsible for a complete EPC scope including the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Start Up of the facility. This strategic project not only will provide direct jobs at full production but will also generate many other jobs required to support the operation of this new and important Plant in Qatar.
The greenfield plant feature state of the art bipolar membrane Electrolysers and will be designed according to the Best Available Techniques (BAT) not only for process operations, but also for air emissions control and waste processing to grant full compliance with the stringent Local Environmental Regulations.
The project will deliver high quality products to the local Oil and Gas market in Qatar in addition to other sectors and downstream industries. The fast track project schedule foresees plant commissioning targeted for October 2015 and commercial production for December 2015.
The signing ceremony between Gulf Chlorine W.L.L. and FATA EPC was held in Oman on January 9, 2014. The contract was signed by S. Al Yahai Chairman of Gulf Chlorine and Walid Azhari, Deputy Chairman & CEO of Gulf Chlorine, and, for FATA, by Ignazio Moncada, Chairman of FATA and Anthony Tropeano, CEO of FATA EPC, in the presence of HE Italian Ambassador to Oman, Paola Amadei.
