Finmeccanica: new orders worth about EUR 93 million

Finmeccanica has been awarded new orders for a total value worth about EUR 93 million through its companies AgustaWestland, SELEX Galileo, SELEX Elsag and DRS Technologies.

In detail, AgustaWestland, the Finmeccanica helicopter company, signed contracts for a total value of approximately EUR 65 million. The contracts have been awarded in Japan and relate to four AW139, two of which will be used for law enforcement missions, and for one GrandNew helicopter. Moreover, the company has been awarded a new order in Thailand for two AW139 for government roles.

On its part, SELEX Galileo, the Finmeccanica company operating in the Defence & Security Electronics sector, has been awarded new contracts totalling around EUR 20 million to provide support and service solutions to the Grifo radar and the Falco Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). Other contracts cover the logistical support of sensors and avionic components for fixed and rotary-wing aircraft.

DRS Technologies Canada, the Canadian subsidiary of the Finmeccanica American company focused on Defense Technology, teaming with SELEX Elsag, the Finmeccanica company leader in Automation, Communications and Security systems, has been awarded a contract worth approximately CAD 11 million by the Department of Public Works and Government Services Canada for the upgrading of the Canadian Navy's HALIFAX Class Frigate Internal Communications System (ICS). The new system will be based on Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) technology. Delivery of the equipment is expected to begin in 2013 and to be completed by the middle of 2015.
