Finmeccanica takes part in the JOB &Orienta exhibition-conference in Verona

Verona  22 November 2012 00:00

Experiencing firsthand the technology and excellence of the skies with the M-346, the most advanced training aircraft available on the market, understanding which kind of skills, professions, careers and people are behind Italian most innovative products. This is what Finmeccanica will offer at its stand from November 22nd to 24th 2012, as part of the JOB&Orienta event, an exhibition-conference organised at the Fiera in Verona and focused on careers guidance, education, training and employment.

The M-346, designed and produced by Alenia Aermacchi, a Finmeccanica Group company, is the only aircraft in the world designed for training pilots who will fly with the most state of the art high-performance aircraft. It is a jewel of technology which visitors will be able to examine from close up at the Finmeccanica stand, during guided tours, which will be an opportunity to come into contact with the innovation, values and training opportunities provided by the Group. At the Finmeccanica stand, the young visitors will be able to have careers guidance interviews with members of staff from the Human Resources departments of the Group’s companies and be provided with information about the Finmeccanica Special Technology Schools.

Within the framework of the reorganisation of high schools and technical/professional training, the Group has in fact joined the ITS - Istituti Tecnici Superiori (Technical Colleges) project – launched by the Ministry of Education, University and Research in agreement with the Ministry of Economic Development. The ITS provide two-year technical training courses for students leaving high school, and were organised with the aim of re-launching the culture of “know how” and offering a new stimulus to technical and scientific training in Italy. At these schools, students have the opportunity to learn real highly-skilled ‘professions’ in an environment that allows for the profitable exchange of knowledge and skills among schools, universities, laboratories and companies.

Today the ITS project involves eight Finmeccanica Group companies (AgustaWestland, Alenia Aermacchi, AnsaldoBreda, Ansaldo STS, Oto Melara, SELEX Galileo, SuperJet International, WASS) operating in seven Italian regions: Lombardy, Piedmont, Campania, Puglia, Tuscany, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria. In every region the partnership and training courses made available follow the specific demands of business: aerospace, helicopter technology, electronic systems and transport. Access to the ITS is possible for any student who has a high school diploma and meets the criteria specified in the competitive exam announcements of the respective Italian regions. The ITS gives students the chance to gain the higher technical diploma which is valid at European level and access the professional world in the specific sector that they have chosen to specialise in.
