Rome, 27 March 2015 – Top-level institutional participants for the official ceremony for the delivery by Finmeccanica-Alenia Aermacchi of the first C-27J Spartan tactical transport aircraft ordered by Peruvian Air Force. The delivery of the tactical transport aircraft is the result of an agreement between Alenia Aermacchi and the Peruvian Air Force made of two contracts: the first, signed in December 2013, for the supply of two C-27Js; the second, signed in December 2014, for the acquisition of two further aircraft C-27J military transport aircraft by Peruvian Air Force. The deliveries of the other three aircraft will end in 2017.
The C-27Js which will be managed by the Air Group n. 8 at the Callao base, on the central coast of the Country, will be employed as strategic asset in passenger and cargo transport, humanitarian, fire-fighting, search and rescue and internal security missions. The C-27J Spartan has been selected thanks to its capability of operating safely and efficiently and at competitive costs in all operational scenarios of Latin American Country, including activities on semi-prepared airstrips of the Andes and of the many local airports.
In addition to Peru the C-27J Spartan has already been ordered, amongst others, by the Air Forces of U.S., Australia, Italy, Mexico, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Lithuania, Greece and Morocco, for a total of 80 units.
