Finmeccanica - Selex ES sees major success in providing automation technology for postal operators and couriers. During Post Expo 2014, which takes place in Stockholm from 23-25 September, the company announced the award of a significant new contract in Belgium.

The agreement was signed with Belgian postal operator bpost for a total value of about €20m. Finmeccanica – Selex ES will supply bpost with an automated parcel sorting system capable of handling more than 30,000 packages per hour. The 900 metre-long system, officially known as the Multisorting Parcel Handling System (MPHS), will be installed in bpost’s new parcel delivery hub based in the Brussels region.

For over 40 years Finmeccanica - Selex ES has been partnering with logistics companies in the postal and automated material handling sectors. The company is the only provider able to develop and offer proprietary sorting technologies for the whole range of mail, from letters to parcels. Finmeccanica - Selex ES’s automation solutions bring together physical sorting and handling systems with ICT platforms to create comprehensive mail management solutions, an approach that includes consulting and customer support services.

At Post Expo 2014, Finmeccanica – Selex ES showcases its new ‘bundled logistics hub’, an integrated platform that comprises sorting and ICT systems that have already proven successful in the marketplace. At the show, Finmeccanica - Selex ES’s parcel and multi-format sorting machines will also be demonstrated to customers. Live demos of the company’s ICT platforms will demonstrate the effectiveness of new solutions for mail tracking and tracing and multi-channel (electronic, physical, SMS, etc.) communications.
