Selex ES, a Finmeccanica company, is to take part at Dubai Airshow, 17-21 November (Finmeccanica stand n.1933), aiming to answer national technological growth strategies through its advanced range of products and systems. Its strong capabilities in the airborne ISR/ISTAR domain are well suited to meeting the UAE’s existing requirements and strategic aspirations, matching the needs of major programmes that have been launched or are under development.

Selex ES is currently contributing its innovative SkyISTAR mission systems and sensors suite to the P.1 HH Hammerhead, a new state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) designed for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Launched last February at IDEX, the Hammerhead is being developed by Piaggio Aero in partnership with the Finmeccanica company. Selex ES will ensure safe operations during all flight activities, throughout the whole chain of UAS command and control: it is responsible for the development of the mission management system, the vehicle management and control system, air data terminal and the ground control segment for the system. A mock up of the Hammerhead will be displayed in Dubai at Piaggio Aero-Mubadala stand and in the static area.

As a major part of the Eurofighter Typhoon programme, Selex ES will also be supporting the aircraft’s campaign activity at the show. The Company’s develops more than 65% of Typhoon's mission critical systems, avionics and sensors including the Captor radar, the Pirate IRST sensor and DASS protection suite.

Furthermore, unrivalled range of state-of-the-art sensors, including AESA surveillance radars, DIRCM systems and EW suites, are currently under evaluation for applications on a range of rotary wing aircraft.

The strong presence in the UAE is also linked to other areas of the Company’s capability: Selex ES is providing the UAE Armed Forces with integrated naval systems (with particular involvement in the Baynunah, Abu Dhabi Class ASW, Falaj 2, and Ghannatha programmes), weapons and missile electronics, protection, EO solutions and military radios – with over 6.000 Personal Role Radios (PRR) supplied to Land Forces and Special Operations Command. Future opportunities in the UAE are represented by two major military projects: the National G4 Network for Armed Forces and the Future Soldier Program.

Selex ES also has an extensive heritage in the Gulf area, where many airports rely on its air and airport traffic control solutions (Bahrain; Kuwait City - Kuwait; Doha - Qatar; Jeddah and Riyadh - Saudi Arabia) and the border security of several countries is strengthened by its coastal and maritime surveillance systems (e.g. Yemen).
