Lorenzo Mariani was appointed Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Leonardo on May 7, 2026.

Lorenzo Mariani brings deep executive leadership experience across the aerospace, defence and security sector, with a strong international profile.

His professional career is defined by a strong ability to drive business across the entire lifecycle — from Research and Development through to production and commercialization — operating effectively in complex and highly competitive environments.

Since April 1, 2025, he has served as Executive Group Director Sales & Business Development at MBDA, a role in which he sits on the Group's Executive Committee, as well as Managing Director of MBDA Italia. In this position, he has contributed to strengthening the company's standing within a rapidly evolving international landscape, shaped by new operational and industrial requirements. In particular, he has led initiatives aimed at enhancing production capabilities and improving overall efficiency, making the business more competitive in increasingly sophisticated global scenarios.

Previously, he gained extensive experience at Leonardo, where he held positions of growing responsibility, ultimately becoming Co-General Manager and Director of Business Operations, playing a key role in the management and evolution of the Group's operational activities.

His career also includes earlier experience at MBDA Italia in Sales & Business Development and Strategy, as well as leadership of Leonardo's Land & Naval Defence Electronics Division. From 2017, he additionally served as Chief Commercial Officer, taking on the role of CEO of Leonardo International and board member of MBDA.

With an integrated strategic vision and a deep understanding of industrial and institutional dynamics, Lorenzo Mariani is distinguished by his ability to strengthen the competitiveness of the organizations he leads, effectively addressing the challenges posed by complex and ever-changing international contexts.

Mariani graduated with honors in Electronic Engineering in 1990 and served as a Naval Officer in 1991.
