Since its inception, Eurofighter has been a driver of economic growth and employment, creating an interdependent and highly specialised industrial ecosystem. The article “From Eurofighter a boost to growth and employment” reports the two evolutionary growth scenarios according to the analysis carried out by PwC Strategy& for the next decade. In the most conservative scenario, the programme can contribute EUR 58 billion to the GDP of the four partner nations (UK, Germany, Italy and Spain), supporting 62,700 jobs per year. Including the additional sales opportunities of 200 aircraft in domestic and export markets, the numbers increase to EUR 90 billion of GDP and more than 98,000 jobs per year.
The article “Made in Italy technology wins for the development of the European consortium” describes the Group’s activities and contribution, in industrial and technological terms, to the development of the Eurofighter, an aircraft destined to evolve, acting as a technological demonstrator for next-generation combat air. As highlighted by Lorenzo Mariani, Co-General Manager of Leonardo, “The Eurofighter Typhoon programme has played a crucial role in the development of advanced technologies and in the employment of thousands of qualified professionals. The broad spectrum of activities carried out by Leonardo in the aeronautics, electronics, sensors, and systems sectors requires, in fact, a highly diversified involvement, which translates into an equally broad overall result, with an important impact on our business programmes for the defence and civil sectors."
