The project set out to develop an innovative system for autonomous navigation in GNSS-denied environments, providing an alternative positioning method based on satellite imagery and advanced data interpolation techniques. This initiative was launched following the T-TeC – Telespazio Technology Contest 2024 and developed through the collaboration between Leonardo and Telespazio.

The technology attracted particular interest for its application in GNSS-denied navigation for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and for its nature as a plug-and-play backup solution, which can be easily integrated and adapted to different platforms.

All planned deliverables were successfully completed, validating the technological approach developed by Raysilience and demonstrating its potential as a backup navigation solution for environments where GNSS signals are unavailable. The solution proved particularly effective in delivering reliable positioning through the use of a Visual Positioning System (VPS).

Thanks to these features, the technology has demonstrated significant potential for application in autonomous navigation systems for UAVs and, more broadly, in any operational scenario where positioning continuity and resilience are strategic requirements.

The project confirms the value of collaboration between Leonardo and the innovation ecosystem, demonstrating how engagement with high-tech startups can accelerate the development of innovative solutions.
