Welcomed by general Stefanini and General Preziosa, Hewson (Lockheed Martin) and Mauro Moretti
A US delegation from the Department of Defense led by the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Frank Kendall, visited today the manufacturing plant managed by Finmeccanica-Alenia Aermacchi at the Military Air Force base in Cameri (Novara, Italy), specialized in the assembly of wing components for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program (JSF).
Kendall was welcomed by the Secretary General of Defense, Enzo Stefanini, by the Air Force Chief of Staff, Pasquale Preziosa, by the CEO of Lockeed Martin Corporation, Marillyn Hewson, and by the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Finmeccanica, Mauro Moretti, who illustrated the role played by the Italian Group in the F-35 program.
Kendall expressed satisfaction for the high technological standards of the items produced, the high quality of the production lines, and for compliance with the product delivery schedule.
The F-35 program, when fully operational, will employ around 1,500 people at the plant. If all the satellite activities are taken into account, the national workforce will reach a total of 6,500 units during the same period.
Finmeccanica-Alenia Aermacchi - leader of a pool of 25 Italian companies among which also other companies of the Finmeccanica Group like Selex ES and OTO Melara – envisages the construction of about 800 full wings.
