Singapore 11 February 2014
At the Singapore Airshow currently underway ATR confirms itself as the global leader in turboprop aircraft. The European manufacturer has in fact signed today two major contracts for a total of 48 aircraft including orders and options, which adds to the contract signed yesterday with Binter Canarias for 6 aircrafts.
The first contract announced today was signed with the Dubai Aerospace Enterprise for a total of 20 ATR 72-600 plus an option for 20 more. The delivery of the aircraft is expected between 2015 and 2018. DAE is the most important leasing company not only in the UAE but throughout the Middle East and this success lays the foundations for an extension of the ATR brand visibility in a market with high potential.
The second agreement was reached instead with Bangkok Airways, which ordered six ATR 72-600 with an option for 2 more. This contract not only confirms that the ATR aircraft are the most suitable for connections to the various tourist areas of Thailand, but also underscores the confidence that the airline pays to ATR: Bangkok Airways in fact began operating the first ATR turboprop aircraft since the 80s .
