What makes a helicopter fly? How important the gear box is

The lift spin that makes a helicopter soar are the rotating blades, powered by the engine through a transmission, or gear box, the most critical part of an helicopter.

Leonardo with its Transmissions Centre of Excellence, is one of the few companies with a vertical capability in the whole transmission’s building process.

The Centre of Excellence is a real manufacturing system where all the skills, industrial assets, production processes, control and simulation capabilities necessary for the development and manufacturing of the gear box have been concentrated.
