Leonardo at Critical Communications World 2021

28 October 2021
Leonardo presents its latest news on professional communications

Organised by TCCA (The Critical Communications Association) Critical Communications World (CCW) is the most prestigious event of the year for the sector. The event returns as to an in-person event. This edition, which will be held in Madrid from 3 to 5 November, will comprise of meetings, conferences, masterclasses alongside the exhibition where the latest products on the market will be shown.

The professional communications sector is undergoing a transition phase due to the prospective upgrades of LTE and 5G broadband technologies. Due to the majority of worldwide mission critical services being provided via voice and messaging on narrowband networks, it is crucial to identify a strategy that combines this technology with broadband in order to implement new services, which demand greater data transmission capacity, like real-time videos.

At CCW, Leonardo will take the opportunity to show its capabilities to support customers in adopting the most consolidated core technologies.

Strengthen our core: DTA7000

The new DTA 7000 ECOS-E base station, a family of base stations that implements software defined radio solutions with DMR and TETRA models will be shown for the first time in Madrid.

Interoperability for transformation

It will also be possible to see live the effectiveness of the Leonardo multi-vector hybrid network (RIM) which integrates the current TETRA and DMR standards with the highest performance networks based on LTE and 5G.

Master the new

Leonardo will also present its new advanced services that take advantage of 4G and higher capacity connections (MCPTT, MCData and MCVideo) developed on the proprietary platform CSP-MCX. The recent acquisition Alea, a company specialised in mission critical communication software for multimedia solutions on the LTE / 5G broadband networks further strengthens Leonardo's position in the broadband solutions market. The evolution also includes command and control operation rooms. These are built on the proprietary X-2030 and MCCR platforms. They take advantage of multi-network technologies for an informed decision-making process, together with more effective and coordinated monitoring and intervention activities.

Towards the close of the first day at CCW, the ICCA (The International Critical Communications Award), the most prestigious award for excellence in professional communications, will be assigned. Leonardo is a nominee in the Professional Communications for Public Safety category with the Cortina 2021 project, a virtuous example of critical communications that integrates narrowband and broadband to guarantee the safety of a major event.
