A great news for the Tuscany Region, for the Italian high technology and, in particular, for the transport sector. Over half of the Tuscan commuters will soon move to new-generation trains. Two new trains Vivalto, built by AnsaldoBreda and intended for regional rail transport, have already entered into service on the Tuscan network during the month of September. 20 more carriages will be delivered by December 2014.
The new Vivalto offers more than 700 seats in its six double-decker carriages and, with the entire existing fleet, also ensures 159 daily connections throughout the region.
The new trains will improve consistently the everyday Tuscan commuters which will be guaranteed with more links to their movements. Vivaltos will travel on the main routes, such as the Viareggio-Lucca-Florence (where since Monday, September 15th , the daily races with the latest AB vehicles rose to 50), in addition to the line of Pisa, Arezzo and the two Tyrrhenian lines. With deliveries expected by year end, the AnsaldBreda Vivaltos operating on the Tuscan network will be 150.
Starting in October, the new Vivaltos delivered to the Tuscany Region will be more accessible for disabled, as they will be equipped with bathrooms fully accessible also to people in wheelchairs. The change will be introduced starting from next January, also on the trains already in service in both Tuscany and the rest of Italy.
