This year, the joint venture between Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%) celebrates its first 60 years of activity, full of successes and achievements, which today represent a springboard for tackling the challenges of tomorrow.

Founded in Rome in October 1961 by Italcable and STET – with the aim of bringing Italy into the then very narrow circle of countries capable of developing satellite telecommunications – Telespazio is today one of the world's leading operators in the field of satellite solutions and services.  

After 60 years, technological innovation has remained the company's identity. Today, space technologies and innovations, such as artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things and even new satellite constellations, play a crucial role in the sustainable lives of future generations.

With the publication of a book dedicated to the company's history and future challenges, a photographic exhibition, and a programme of digital events dedicated to innovation and technologies in the space sector, Telespazio will, during 2021, retrace a success story in the space sector with an eye to the future.
