Lucrezia Altieri, an aerospace engineer, is in charge of managing contracts for the Leonardo aircraft and is now Head of Contract management of the C-27J for the US Armed Forces at the Pomigliano d’Arco (NA) plant, centre of excellence for aeronautical design and aerostructures production, as well as home of Leonardo’s Aerotech Campus.

On joining the group 17 years ago, starting work in Tessera, in Officine Aeronavali (formerly a subsidiary of the Finmeccanica Group), Lucrezia quickly put her expertise to use, mainly in management tasks, and in time leveraged her ability to challenge herself, taking on the complexities of managing military contracts.

Since 2008, Lucrezia has been involved in one of Leonardo’s major programmes, the C-27J Spartan tactical transport aircraft, of which she knows every detail, from the production process to the management of entry into service. She has become a point of reference for colleagues even in areas that are not purely managerial or contractual.

In particular, in her current position, Lucrezia handles complex responsibilities such as liaising with the client in managing contractual obligations and related deliverables. In coordination with CSS&T Sales, “I am in charge of preparing, issuing and negotiating offers for product changes; checking all contractual implications; supporting management of the goods and services delivery process and the proper conduct of customer acceptance activities.” In cooperation with the Programme Management, she checks the achievement of targets and milestones. She also ensures the compliance of license applications with current Trade Compliance regulations.

Her interest in international standards and regulations is now integral to her life. At Leonardo, Lucrezia has had the chance to build her knowledge further and embark on challenging career paths that have led her to work internationally with colleagues from other major Aerospace and Defence companies. Like when she took part, as the only European out of 100 participants (the other 99 were American), “in a course to share tips and solve problems for all the worldwide users of the PIEE (Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment) system, of which I became GAM (Group Administrator) at the DFAS Center (Defense Finance and Accounting Service) in Columbus, Ohio.”
