In the current geopolitical scenario, marked by tensions and conflicts, the Defence concept is becoming increasingly central. As Roberto Cingolani points out, it is expanding to include a broader horizon, encompassing energy, cyber, infrastructure, and food security.

In industrial terms, Cingolani explains that Europe must focus on “top-level platforms, pooling resources to avoid an evident fragmentation compared to the US, and follow the joint venture model”.

Each country could contribute across various domains - sea, land, air, space, and cyber - by focusing on investment in innovation and technological development, all central elements in Leonardo’s new strategy. Cingolani underlines that the company’s increasing stock market valuation is linked to its “Industrial Plan, which envisages a paradigm shift with a high-tech approach and a social role for the company”.
