Rome  23 April 2014

On April 27th Rome will host the canonization cerimony of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II, and Selex ES will support the Police forces of the Municipality of Rome guaranteeing the safety of the event. In fact the TETRA mobile radio system will allow operators to communicate with each other through radios, ensuring maximum coordination in control activities and security management.

Following an agreement signed with the City of Rome in September 2012, Selex ES developed a TETRA communication network for the Municipal Police of Rome that covers the entire city; the network includes approximately 5000 terminals, with Selex ES also providing management services and network maintenance.

The Municipal Police Service has used the TETRA network to manage security for a number of events hosted by the City including papal audiences and football matches at the Stadio Olimpico.

On the occasion of the canonization of the popes, the Department of Technological Innovation of Rome has asked Selex ES to develop a TETRA network which will be available for joint use by the Civil Protection department and the Municipality Police.
