Future Electronics & Sensing

The laboratory develops new technologies and solutions to strengthen existing command and control systems (C2), transforming them into true cognitive systems by using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The laboratory employs technologies and algorithms that can be applied to autonomous vehicles, predictive maintenance systems and systems to detect and recognise human actions and individuals in crowded settings.

The unit develops AI architectures that can be applied to various functions in command and control systems to support operator decision-making.

Cognitive devices

The research unit studies how to apply AI to sensors, such as radar and radio, so that they can be adjusted to different operating scenarios and to increase their resilience and detection capabilities.

Predictive Maintenance

The research unit studies new solutions to implement predictive maintenance capabilities in Leonardo systems, making this technology modular and efficient.

UxV/Uncrewed

The unit is dedicated to the design and development of a decision support system (DSS) applied to Uncrewed systems, to allow the identification of objects and people (classifying them as friend or foe) by using audio and video plug-ins based on AI.
