Finmeccanica: AgustaWestland AW139 is an emergency medical service ‘star' in Australia with €200 mln orders

Contracts for 14 helicopters signed at Avalon Airshow, deliveries in 2016. 24 helicopters sold in the country in the last 12 months

The Finmeccanica-AgustaWestland AW139 demonstrates the benchmark helicopter for emergency medical service missions in Australia, with a further expansion of the commercial success achieved in the country by the company. During the Avalon Airshow (Melbourne), the best-selling AgustaWestland's helicopter type logged new orders for a total of 14 units, valued at approximately 200 million euro.

Rome, 27 February 2015 – The Finmeccanica-AgustaWestland AW139 demonstrates the benchmark helicopter for emergency medical service missions in Australia, with a further expansion of the commercial success achieved in the country by the company. During the Avalon Airshow (Melbourne), the best-selling AgustaWestland’s helicopter type logged new orders for a total of 14 units, valued at approximately 200 million euro. Deliveries of the helicopters, which will be used for rescue operations at land and sea in the Southern and Eastern areas of Australia, will start in the first half of 2016.

 

The contracts signed at the Avalon Airshow, which include support and training packages, bring to 24 the number of helicopters sold by AgustaWestland in Australia in the last 12 months. Over 50 AgustaWestland helicopters are already in service in Australia and in New Zealand.

 

As the most successful new generation helicopter in the 6.5 ton category, the AW139 features a large cabin making it perfectly suited for emergency medical service purposes, as well as an ideal solution for passenger transport, offshore transport supporting the Oil&Gas industry, security and public utility duties.

 

More than 840 AW139s have been purchased so far by over 220 customers in 70 countries.
