Abu Dhabi  03 December 2013

The Cavour Naval Group left yesterday from the harbor of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, after a stay in of about five days. The Group, which includes the Cavour aircraft carrier, the frigate Bergamini, the logistics support ship Etna and the patrol vessel "Class Leaders" Borsini, is heading towards what will be the third stage of this campaign: Bahrain.

The days in Abu Dhabi have been intense and featured many visits among which the most representative were certainly those of the Commander of the UAE Navy, Admiral Ibrahim Salem Mohammed al Mushrekh, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, its Height Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan. The delegations have shown a lot of interest both on what was exhibited in booth inside of the aircraft carrier as well as what was put on display on the flight deck: AgustaWestland AW101 and NH-90, all the most representative MBDA solutions, and the WASS torpedo MU- 90.

The interest generated by the solutions offered by the Finmeccanica Group is due to the great relationship between our country and the United Arab Emirates, as often recalled during these days by the Italian Ambassador Giorgio Starace and the Commander of the 30th Naval Group Cavour, Rear Admiral Paolo Treu, a relationship that also has its roots in the history of our Group in the country, where it has been present for more than 40 years and where it has developed partnerships in various development cutting-edge programs, reason that led Finmeccanica to inaugurate a new office in Abu Dhabi on the past November 16th.
