Leonardo's collection of museums has been enriched with the opening of the Aeronautical Industry Museum. Located at the Leonardo Aircraft factory in Turin, Caselle Sud, the new museum features some of the company’s most significant productions: from aircraft built in wood and with wing surfaces covered in canvas, to those built in fibre of carbon and titanium, with sophisticated navigation and mission management systems, up to remotely piloted aircraft.
The museum was born from a project conceived in 2013, with the aim of recovering and conserving the historic aircraft present at all industrial sites across Leonardo's Aircraft Division. The initiative became a reality thanks to the support of GAVS – Gruppo Amici Velivoli Storici of Turin – and the volunteers of the Leonardo Seniores Group, who manage aircraft maintenance activities and welcome visitors.
The Aeronautical Industry Museum now sits alongside the other historical archives and exhibition showcases owned by Leonardo (Agusta Museum, Breda Meccanica Bresciana Museum, Officine Galileo Museum and Radar Museum) coordinated by the Leonardo-Civiltà delle Macchine Foundation.
